Make the Censors Watch ‘Paint Drying’ by Charlie Lyne — Kickstarter
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/charlielyne/make-the-censors-watch-paint-drying
The British Board of Film Certification (previously known as the British Board of Film Censors) was established in 1912 to ensure films remained free of ‘indecorous dancing’, ‘references to controversial politics’ and ‘men and women in bed together’, amongst other perceived indiscretions.
Today, it continues to censor and in some cases ban films, while UK law ensures that, in effect, a film cannot be released in British cinemas without a BBFC certificate.
Each certificate costs around £1000 for a feature film of average length. For many independent filmmakers, such a large upfront can prove prohibitively expensive.

Thanks for the Really Counter-Productive DMCA Complaints
One of today’s favored anti-piracy methods is to have Google de-index alleged pirate links from its search results. The theory is that if users don’t find content on search pages 1, 2 or 3, there’s more chance of them heading off to an official source.
The trouble is, Google’s indexes are massive and therefore return a lot of data. This results in copyright holders resorting to automated tools to identify infringing content en masse and while for some people these seem to work well (the UK’s BPI appears to have a very good record), others aren’t so good at it.
Errors get made and here at TF we like to keep an eye out for the real clangers – obviously it’s of particular interest when we become the targets. After being wrongfully accused by NBC Universal eight times in February, we had to wait until April for the world-famous Web Sheriff to ride into town.
In a DMCA notice sent on behalf of The Weinstein Company, Web Sheriff tackles dozens of domains for alleged offering the company’s content for download. However, for reasons best known to the gun-slinging Sheriff, he told Google that TF’s list of the most popular torrent sites of 2015 is infringing on his client’s copyrights.
We weren’t the only targets though. The Sheriff also tried to have three pages removed from business networking site Linkedin and one each from movie promo sites ComingSoon and Fandango (which are both legitimately advertising Weinstein movies).
However, the real genius came when the Sheriff tried to take down the Kickstarter page for Weinstein’s own movie, Keep On Keepin’ On. Fortunately, Google is on the ball and rejected every attempt.

3D Printer Creator Withholding Long-Delayed Shipments To Early Backers Over Supposed ‘Defamatory’ Comments
There are a lot of ways to deal with unhappy Kickstarter backers. Being generally unresponsive to complaints isn’t a good idea. Withholding already-delayed shipments and blaming it on allegedly defamatory comments definitely isn’t.
Cobblebot promised shipments to its earliest backers by October 2014. It’s now April 2015 and some have yet to see the 3D printers they’ve paid for. Worse, other backers of other products by Cobblebot have already received theirs. (Cobblebot started another Kickstarter project shortly after this one was funded, as well as using IndieGogo to raise additional funds.) It’s the earliest backers — at least those who have been critical of numerous shipping delays — who are still waiting for their paid-for printers to be shipped.
Whatever the real reason behind these delayed shipments, Cobblebot has chosen to portray this as a (highly dubious) legal issue.
One customer, who goes by the handle of JeffRandall on the Cobbleverse forum, recently contacted the company via email with the following message:
“Can you please tell me what the status is for my final shipment. I paid the final invoice over a week ago and I am one of the 99 super early bird backers [these backers had an expected delivery date which passed 6 months ago!]. The message from you was that the package had been prepared, yet it hasn’t shipped in over a week.”
Jeff received the following, rather alarming reply shortly after:
“Hello Jeffrey,
Sorry for the delay and an explanation is necessary. Your account was placed on hold by our legal department. Under Texas law, it is unlawful to engage in defamation of another’s character and reputation. The law presumes certain categories of statements are defamatory per se, including statements that (1) unambiguously charge a crime, dishonesty, fraud, rascality, or general depravity or (2) that are falsehoods that injure one in his office, business, profession, or occupation. Main v. Royall, 348 S.W.3d 318, 390.
Several of your recent posts on various internet forums were being reviewed by the legal department for inclusion in our fourth round of upcoming legal actions being filed to protect our company’s reputation from the illegal act of defamation.
All the above being said, we did receive a hold release from the legal department today and will proceed with the shipping of your package. What does it mean when the legal department releases a hold? It normally means one of two things: 1) The legal department has decided the reviewed statement(s) were not defamation under Texas law; or 2) They have decided to issue a warning (Cease & Desist letter) to provide the opportunity to stop defaming the company’s reputation.
Keep in mind that the support department does not have access to the legal department’s records, so we don’t know anything for certain. We are just attempting to explain the type of hold that we saw placed on your account and what that type of hold means.
In any case, the hold has been released and we will move forward with the shipping of your final package.
Thanks for supporting Cobblebot and have a wonderful day!Cobblebot Team”
Computers For Christians by Ryan Alexander
This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen on Kickstarter. I don’t even know what it is. It’s just pure insanity. Read the whole description. Here’s an excerpt:
In fact it I could not build on existing platforms, simply out of my own distaste for this inexcusable insanity which is the current convention for which there is no excuse besides a lack of moral vision that does not extend beyond ones own self-absorbed existence, which those who have the power and control over supplying this service have confessed to being in possessed by. I am supremely unimpressed. Knowledge of these forms of low level operations has in fact caused me to do a self-evaluation and strengthen my bonds to my own roots and who I am as an individual which I proudly proclaim that I do not belong to man, I belong to God, if you take a close look at the 10 commandments you’ll see why, God is good, God is cool, God is a carrot not just a stick, a vision of something greater then ourselves, I will share this more later, but on the subject of integrity, it’s necessary to mention that God’s law, the 10 commandments, is my standard. It was the standard for the USA at it’s inception, which spurred the industrial revolution and for even the most modest in our country it has made life more heavenly then it would have been otherwise, and set an example for the world as well. Unfortunately this has not been preserved as it should have been, but let’s stick to personal computers, while noting the benefit of having faith in God’s commandments, appeared to be the fingerprint of visibility, note the first four commandments requiring recognition for this service that one can imply God didn’t necessarily have to make, but out of his mercy and steadfast nature of God’s love, did so. Impressive the result of their application, it is a no-brainer following in this standard, that is a carrot not a stick, thank you God, I bow to you. I trust in you.

G.H.O.S.T. / Hydrogen On-Demand
Let’s see. No explanation for how it works. Not possible to get a device as a reward. A monumental lack of specifics. Not even an explanation for how they’ve overcome the problem with generating hydrogen without a massive energy loss?
About this project
Producing a hydrogen on-demand fuel saving device…
There is always more than one answer to any given challenge, but finding and implementing alternatives takes courage and cooperation.
We have the courage.
We’re asking you for the cooperation.
The long haul trucking industry ( tractor trailers )has been working for some time to reduce its use of fossil fuels, in an effort to curb operational costs and the size of its adverse affects on the environment.
The use of natural gas has been a suggested alternative option, but it is seriously flawed.
Even though it provides some savings in the cost of fuel and emits only one quarter of the CO2 that normal diesel engines produce, the price of natural gas engines conversions are roughly $50,000 more than a diesel engine; and if natural gas does not burn properly, it can be more dangerous to the environment than CO2.
So what’s the safe alternative?
G.H.O.S.T./Generated, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Separation, Technology
G.H.O.S.T. is a fuel savings device we’ve created, that uses the proven process of separating hydrogen from water.
Clean Fuel Technologies would like to clarify that we did not invent extracting hydrogen from water, that discovery came many, many years ago. We did however achieve harnessing the power of hydrogen from water and utilizing it as a form of on-demand fuel, to support all combustion type engines.
The average tractor trailer uses about $100,000 per year in fuel cost, our device would provide an annual savings of nearly $25,000 for every tractor trailer using our G.H.O.S.T. technology.
Think of the possibilities.
Implementation of our G.H.O.S.T. device will cost approximately $6,900 per tractor trailer to implement vs. a minimum of $30,000 to convert an existing diesel engine to natural gas.
And did we mention our device has almost zero emissions?
Our ultimate goal is nothing short of world domination. Which is to say we’d like to makeG.H.O.S.T. available for every gas or diesel operated engine in the world.
We are starting with the tractor trailer industry because it’s the market where G.H.O.S.T. can create the largest and the quickest results.
We have a plan.
We have a product.
We have a place to build it.
What’s more, we have a buyer.
With a business from the government sector committed to the purchase of a minimum of 10,000 units, we need to provide at least 2500 of those in the next 7 months. We have the facility in which to begin manufacturing, we’re poised for success.
Our start up goal is to build those first 2500 units in our first run, using funding to produce proper manufacturing procedures, and EPA approval.
Some of our estimated costs include but are not limited to:
- Proprietary machinery for the internal system of our patented device:$250,200
- Communication driver board technology: $485,000
- Proprietary plastics: $89,000
- Stainless steel for cable: $135,000
- Automotive hose: $13,300
- Injection mold set up for fusion tank: $95,000
- Final EPA, and production integrity testing: $25,000
shipping for 2500 units, estimated: $225,000
Our total budget requirement for first run and set up is $1,400,000.
Once testing is complete and verified, and our first run has been purchased, the funds produced from that will improve our manufacturing, and allow us to fully realize our true potential, with our world changing patented device…
This is only the first step.
Once applied to the commercial transportation sector the possible savings are almost unimaginable. Using the G.H.O.S.T. system on our first prototype, a Pontiac Vibe, our system helped that vehicle achieve an amazing 87 miles per gallon!
We have personally invested everything we have to get here.
That was the courage.
And because of our efforts we have been awarded five patents so far:
Mexico, (2) United States, Canada, and Australia.
The name G.H.O.S.T. has been trademarked
We ask you now for your cooperation so that we can implement an alternative solution that will make the unimaginable a reality.
Please help us bring this to the world, with using one of the worlds most robust and abundant resource, water!
We can help change everything!
Our system is:
greener,cleaner and better!
Thank you very much!
Risks and challenges
There is only one, EPA approval.
The great news is we are already working with a third party testing facility that specializes in EPA compliance and standards. As our device gives off virtually zero emissions, approval is imminent.
